My wearables and wire jewelry are constructed
using a variety of both on and off the loom techniques. They are made of
natural, at times man-made fibers, and their final form is born of
fantasy or inspiration from literature, research, and life experience.
Beads, buttons, and other notions add whimsy to the pieces.
In producing one of a kind or limited edition
items I feel I can retain honesty, spontaneity, and a sense of humor.
In
my accessories and clothing, I explore fabric structures, many pieces
are reversible or capable of being worn in different orientations, all
shaping and surface texture is achieved as the piece is manufactured.
The
jewelry offers an opportunity to explore wire sculptural forms in small
scale, copper wire (sometimes color coated) is my material of choice.
I like to solve different kinds of problems in my
work, am involved with the techniques, attracted to the geometrics of
knitting, crotchet, surface embellishment, and the complexities of the
resulting structures and design.
