Cambridge Artists' Cooperative

Why become part of Cambridge Artists Cooperative

  • Harvard Square is a thriving retail district that attracts tourists, conventioneers, and local community.

  • Monthly commission is paid promptly. Checks are sent to consignors within two weeks of the close of the month.

  • CAC uses a Point of Sale/Inventory Control system that tracks inventory and consignor sales quickly and efficiently.

  • CAC is staffed almost entirely by its members and volunteers, providing a knowledgeable, personalized shopping experience for our customers and collectors.

How We Work

The members review jury applications on a rolling basis, except in November and December.

CAC has several levels of participation:

  • Consignment.  Consignor has no obligation to participate in gallery activities. Consignor receives wholesale value of works sold.

  • Volunteer Associates (VA’s). In return for a higher percentage of sales VA’s have their craft represented in the gallery and volunteer in the gallery 15-16 hours a month (two 8-hour days or three 5-hour days). Any consignor can request VA status, but the determination is at the discretion of the Members.

  • Membership. The members have the ultimate responsibility for the running the gallery. They work in the gallery approximately 24 hours a month, have committee responsibilities, and are required to attend monthly meetings. The present members vote to accept new members after they have demonstrated their level of commitment to the gallery.
